WEDC 25TH Anniversary
In 1992 Diane Weston, President/CEO of Uwohali, Inc., and Sheri Sensabaugh, President/CEO of ACT Personnel, were paired as mentor and protégé respectively, through a Huntsville Chamber of Commerce/SBA program called WNET. These two ladies, accomplished their WNET goal, became very good friends and together they decided the community needed a strong organization that provided women with opportunities to contribute substantially to the economic development of our community. After recruiting a small group of influential women in the community, they founded the organization we know today as the Women's Economic Development Council, or WEDC. WEDC was officially incorporated in February, 1994 and has been granted a 501(c)(6) status by the IRS as a non-profit business organization.

Twenty five years of identifying, cultivating and supporting emerging women professionals. And to celebrate a time where women have achieved influence, genuine engagement and “seats at the table”.
