August Leadership Training Meeting

By popular request the program for this month's training meeting will be about WEDC's very own Women on Board initiative.  WEDC advocates the advancement of women to positions of power in the business world, especially to boards of directors and executive suites - just another spoke in the wheel of Economic Development.

In an effort to communicate our message WEDC speaks to groups across the state.  This is part of our overall marketing plan which also includes publishing and mailing the brochure, our website and press coverage.  This month we will bring to you, our members, our public presentation which summarizes our findings and why they are important.  If you have not yet heard the presentation now is your chance.  Please consider bringing a guest to hear this exciting news and help us spread the word.

Our very own Kitty Davenport, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones and 2010 WEDC President will be our presenter along with special guest,  Joe Newberry, President and CEO of Redstone Federal Credit Union.  RFCU has about 750 employees and 4 of the 9 directors are women.  Joe will share his strategy on board composition and leadership in general.

Don't miss it!

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the WEDC Foundation press conference on Thursday, August 16th at the Monaco Pictures, Bridge Street Town Centre.  The press conference begins at 11 am, right before the WEDC training meeting (at the Heritage Club, just around the corner from the Monaco).  We hope that you will be able to attend.  This is a great opportunity to meet the honorees and support our sister organization –the WEDC Foundation as they announce the 2012 Women Honoring Women Honorees.
